A 2020 Rant

Okay, where do I start… This has been a crazy year, with several tragic incidents throughout, including the pandemic and its depressing repercussions. This goes without saying that some of us might have had to suffer more than others while bearing a heavier toll on our lives. Personally speaking, it was a challenging year with lots of highs and lows, opportunities and setbacks, euphorias and breakdowns. As I said, a crazy year.

Amidst all these chaos, I authored my debut publication: a technical book, as well as co-authored a Hindi anthology (#ShamelessPlug). Seems like an impressive feat, doesn’t it? It is! Except, now it is over, done and dusted. What does the future hold for me? No clue! With personal and professional life both at a crossroads, I’m more scared than ever. Having said that, I’m also excited about the unforeseen challenges and adversities that I’ll be overcoming. I am well aware that this sounds like personal venting rather than a well-put article, but perhaps this might help someone in some way. My point being, we were able to face probably the most difficult year of our lives head-on and emerge as a stronger and evolved person. The world looks less intimidating now. Being a realist myself, I won’t deny, the future does look bleak. But, maybe, we have already seen the worst, maybe 2021 will compensate for its devastating predecessor, maybe our lives will sort itself out for the better. Come what may, we would have to face whatever is thrown at us, so might as well keep hoping for the best and prepare for the worst, right?

I hope I’m making some sense because sometimes, stuff sounds amazing in my head, but not so much while expressing them… After a long seven-month hiatus in blogging, I wanted to write something personal, in hopes of connecting with your estranged hearts. If you could relate to anything I said, please do try to share any of your experiences as well. If not, a simple ‘Like’ would work wonders too.

“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.”

Thich Nhat Hanh

Wishing you a wonderous, fruitful and joyous 2021.
